Cat Flaps / Cat Doors

Cat Doors or Cat Flaps  come in a wide variety of designs for the cats, from traditional cat flaps, to electronic, magnetic and infra-red controlled access pet doors. Most standard cat flaps are designed for cats 12lbs and under, there are larger cat doors made such as the Hefty Cat, MaxSeal - Small/Medium, and others. Make sure to test the flap size to find out if the opening will be large enough for your cat.

Many people have multiple pets using pet doors, cats and dogs, both going out the same opening. In general cats can use the same pet doors as dogs with very little trouble. They typically just go through at the corners and there is not an issue with multiple pets and size ranges. 
Electronic cat flaps are designed to control the access of cats into the house only. These flaps have a plastic lock mechanism that keeps other cats & feral cats from entering. The release of the lock can be magnetic, electronic or even infrared. They are not Raccoon proof, as they can be lifted outward by animal that try to enter.
